Staying Warm

Greetings to you on this chilly Monday morning.

Well the winter snow is officially upon us and I thought this would be the perfect time to focus on Dior’s word of the week which is Coats!

This is hands down my favorite coat! When I first laid eyes on this beauty I was very pregnant and feeling pretty gross in everything I put on. But when I saw it I knew that it would be the perfect addition to my coat collection. It’s from Banana Republic and was a collaboration with my favorite style icon Olivia Palermo.

Dior touches on Summer coats which I love. But I think the kimono has sort of taken over the silk summer coat as it is so similar. Isn’t it funny that there was a time that you didn’t leave the house without a coat no matter the season? There were even house coats back then. Which I wouldn’t mind that coming back. He also talks a lot of practicality. In my opinion, red is very practical and goes with almost everything. The style of this coat is also timeless. Invest in pieces you’ll have forever.

Here’s to staying warm in a chic way in your favorite coat!

Very Velvet

Hello Monday!

If you know me then you know I have always loved Monday’s. Last week, I talked about how fresh starts invigorate me. Well I feel that way about a new week and a new Dior word.

When velvet came back “in” honestly I wasn’t certain I was here for that trend. Maybe I thought too hard about it but I’m glad I came around to fully embracing this luxe fabric. And clearly Dior was a pretty big fan. Now, you aren’t seeing things trimmed in velvet per say, it’s larger garments in today’s fashion. One thing he was right about though, was the jewel tones. Yes please! I also have a velvet green two piece outfit that I’m in love with. I’m also touching on “old rules”. Like no velvet after March 1st and no white pants after Labor Day. Well, I happen to agree with those. I know that isn’t “trendy” but you won’t see me wearing white pants until Memorial Day. The way I see it, those rules were created by The Greats and I’m sticking with it.

So again, Happy Monday! Look at it as a fresh start instead of dreading it. Or maybe just make your coffee a little stronger? Either way, I hope you all have a great day!

Fashion A-Z

I’m beyond thrilled to share my latest fashion project with you! Sometimes I would struggle with fashion posts because it’s often hard to do things that haven’t already been done. I always want you to be able to take something useful away from my posts and I always want to continue to learn too. They drilled that into our heads when I was in hair school and thats how I look at life now. Never ever stop learning or you’ll get stale. True in hair, true in life.

Christian Dior wrote a book called “The Little Dictionary of Fashion” and was first published in 1954. Now I have a deep, deep love of old school glamour so this was right up my alley. I’ve had it for a while and put it on my to-read list but only recently cracked it open. Well I couldn’t put it down and got the idea to take my favorite words that he describes and do my own take on them. Now, some of them are outdated (sadly) but I’m still finding them still relevant in some manor. In my life at least.

Now that I’ve explained what I’m doing I’m going to share my first word which just so happens to be the last in this book and I found it only all too appropriate.

Zest.jpg

Hands down one of my favorite words in the world! I’m bringing every once of this word with me into 2019. Because, truly, what is the point of doing anything without zest? This goes right along with what I’m always saying which is be yourself and be happy about it. Throw your own zest around everywhere and embrace it!

I hope your new year is full of happiness, good drinks, lots of style, and of course nothing but green lights.
