How-To

The Eye Eats First

Hello Friends!

There is a reason so many people sit down at a table and snap a photo of their food before they eat it. Annoying? Sure. Am I one of those? Yep, sometimes. But there is something to be said for a well presented dish.

When I want to learn something I completely immerse myself in it. Which was what I did when it came to pretty food plating. The best part is that it’s all about having fun! If you mess up just wipe it off and try again. I found an amazing chef who talked about food plating and followed along.

What you need:

A pea, garlic, and olive oil puree in a squeeze bottle

Peas and edamame

Thinly sliced radish

Herbs, and diced cucumber and red pepper

Cumin

What you do:

Step 1: Make a circle with your puree and swoosh.

Step 2: Do some dots but stay on the right side.

Step 3: Make tiny piles of pea and edamame.

Step 4: Lean radish on piles for height.

Step 5: Throw in some herbs. I used dill.

Step 6: Randomly sprinkle cucumber and pepper.

The final step: Sprinkle Cumin and Ta Da! You’re done!

Then just add your protein. That is all it takes to create this beautiful dish. It’s isn’t hard and it doesn’t even take that much time to do.

Here is to being fearless in the kitchen! And also staying warm today because it’s like really cold here.

Chic & Boozy

Hello Friday and hello weekend I'm so ready for you! Mostly because its our last one off in a loooooooooong time.

It's no secret that Fall Fashion is on my brain and I'm pretty much living for it right now. So for today's Martini Moment, I bring you a chic DIY and a very fun and potent drink recipe.

I've said it a million times: I love feathers!! So when they are on the runways I basically freak out. And there are a lot of feathers on the runways for this season. Today, I'm sharing a fun way that you can make your own earrings with the feather trend because not only are feathers on garments they are on accessories! This DIY is quick and so SO trendy!

Here is what you need:

(I went to Hobby Lobby)

Wire of your desired color

Your choice of feathers and beads

Wire cutters

E6000 glue

J Hooks

Simply cut your wire as big or small as you'd like your earring. Then, loop your feathers through the wire (with these, from Hobby Lobby you can adjust the plastic loop at the top), add some beads on the sides, and then glue your wire circle with the E6000 glue (or solder if you're confident enough which I was not). After that, snap your circle into your J Hook. Boom! Chic and ready for date night!

But what's date night without a drink before you walk out the door?!

You guys, beware this drink is strong. Tasty but strong. I love Chambord so I thought it would be such a cool drink recipe.

Simply add everything except the cherry to a martini shaker over ice minus the cherry and strain into a martini glass.

I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

A Quick Closet Clean

We all love our closets and I personally spend a lot of time in mine. But, they sure can get messy easily. Many of us are always on the go and don't always have an hour to dedicate to cleaning our closets up. To help, I came up with a super quick list of things you can get rid of quickly that will make all the difference.

-Get rid of awful store hangers! Seriously invest in velvet hangers. They are way worth it.

-Get rid of those pieces that are damaged that need "fixed". If it has a stain or hole get rid of it!

-Toss old handbags that you've grown out of. Cough, cough Michael Kors I'm lookin' at you.

-This one is hard for me as I am a shoe hoarder but if they are worn out beyond repair just toss them.

Have a happy and hopefully fast Monday!
